Christine Hals is a Norwegian-Swedish film composer and singer. She worked on Frozen's soundtrack, providing vocals for some of the score and also writing the track Heimr Àrnadalr.[1]

Early life

Ever since she was a young girl, Christine Hals sang to the goats in the Norwegian mountains using a high-pitched singing technique known as "kulning", a Scandinavian herd calling technique.[2]

Christine Hals attended the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden. After completing a Masters degree in film scoring, she moved to Los Angeles, California and graduated from the University of Southern California under the mentorship of composer James Newton Howard.[2] When composer Christophe Beck was in search of Norwegian musicians for Frozen, music contractor Peter Rotter recommended her for the part.[3]
